Dear Parents and Students,
Ten years ago, I spent some time at Club Heights as an intern and now I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to this wonderful community, once again. Life often brings us unpredictable, fantastic finds, seemingly at random. There’s a word for this: serendipity.
Most folks think this is just good luck, however, it’s more than that. Sometimes good things tend to come our way most when we are looking for them. I think this is where the saying, “I make my own luck,” comes from. Like the heroes from which we get the word, “The Three Princes of Serendip” (no lie, Google it), if we go through life expecting that there are rare treasures to be discovered, good things will come our way.
Learning is one of these rare treasures. Like Aladdin’s lamp, it will lead us to even greater rewards down the road. As we prepare to start the new school year, it’s a good time to reflect and decide whether we believe this or not. If so, we need to do whatever it takes to pursue learning as a treasure; letting nothing stand in our way.
At Club Heights, we are committed to creating a safe school where every student will attain high levels of success in academics and become a person of quality. We do this in partnership with you! Making sure your children come to school on time every day, encouraging them to pursue education and learning, as if their life depends on it, and supporting us as we make their success our one goal, are the keys to making this happen.
Another critical way to support these goals is to keep the communication lines open. This works best when it is a two-way street with talking and listening going both ways between you and the school. Let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions, or let us know if there is anything you think will help your child succeed. In return, we will do our best to keep you informed on how your child is doing at school and keep you involved in things here.
Serendipity: a slightly silly word with a wonderful meaning. We are expecting good things to come this year and hope you are too.
